1, Definition and core characteristics of carbon fiber
Carbon fiber (CF) is an inorganic high-performance fiber with a carbon content of over 90%. It is made from organic fibers such as polyacrylonitrile (PAN), asphalt, or adhesive, and is carbonized by high-temperature cracking. Its core characteristics can be summarized as "light, strong, durable, and stable":
Lightweight and High Strength: With a density of only 1/4 of steel (1.5-2.0g/cm ³), its strength is 7-9 times that of steel (tensile strength can reach over 3500MPa), and its specific strength (strength/density) far exceeds that of traditional metal materials;
High temperature resistance: can withstand temperatures above 3000 ℃ (such as T1000 grade carbon fiber maintaining structural stability at 3000 ℃), far higher than the melting point of aluminum alloy (660 ℃) and titanium alloy (1668 ℃);
Corrosion resistance: resistant to corrosive media such as acid, alkali, oil, salt, etc., suitable for strongly corrosive environments (such as chemical pipelines, marine engineering);
Soft and processable: The diameter of a single filament is only 5-7 microns (about 1/10 of a human hair), which can be woven into various forms such as fabrics, felts, belts, etc. It can be composite molded with resins, ceramics, metals, etc.
